The Reward of Discipline

The reward of discipline.

The title of this blog was to attract you to it. But wait! I do have a point! Over the past few months, I have tried disciplining myself in different areas such as organization, health and exercise. I have not been successful. So today after having a success study session, I decided to jump on Instagram. Not that you care-I’m currently working outside of my home since my wifi isn’t working. Grr. So there I was on Instagram scrolling when my eyes fell on a photo with “DISCIPLINE” in the center and in all caps. The caption had a suspending message that myself and many others (from the comments) were very pleased with. A friend of mine shared the photo, and so I thought to myself: “Zee, share this on your blog. Your blog is dry.” So here’s what she shared:

“No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So how can you successfully discipline yourself in certain areas of your life? With God, of course. I find it comforting and more rewarding when I take my hands off of my own life and give myself fully over to God –submitting to His perfect will for my life.  On that day, and once again, I confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life, that my life is NOT my own but my life is The Lord’s. In knowing this, when things get hard, I should get God involved. The Bible says He’s compassionate, loving and that He’s the God of all comfort. God is my helper. When I want to beat myself up for not completing a task the way I want it, He’s not going to laugh at me. He’s not going to argue with me. He’s not going to judge me. I know full well that He will not do that with you also. So stop and ask for His help. Have you gone to God for help with disciplining yourself in the areas you need it? He promises in the scripture above that after a person is trained by discipline there will be a “peaceful harvest of right living.” Go to Him and trust in Him.

P.s. So back to my wifi. Wifi is life. I need my wifi back at home.
